The Business
The Coop Food group is the largest of the UK Coop retail societies with circa 2,500 retail stores in the UK.
The Challenge
Our consultants worked closely with the Coop's capacity planning team to understand the complexities of managing the effects of multiple change projects across their UK retail store estate. At the time the annual programme was represented as a chart that covered an entire wall of the Coop's head office building.
The Approach
We prototyped a multi-dimensional planning approach covering trading weeks, programmes and projects, retail store groups and colleague teams. We used a range of tools and settled on an advanced cloud model which operated successfully for many years.
AI Innovation
In 2026 we redeveloped the system using the very latest AI code generation techniques. We can now extend the capabilities of the system literally at the speed of thought whilst delivering an industry-leading customer support service.
